EDUCATION
Introduction
The aim of ETV’s Education Projects is to improve children’s education by creating learning environments that are stimulating, safe and hygienic. Our Projects provide some of the country’s most disadvantaged schools with improved infrastructure and facilities ranging from classrooms and playgrounds to bathrooms and kitchens. There are also teaching placements for those with a TEFL qualification. We plan our projects in conjunction with the community leaders, the teachers and the municipality to determine where our help is needed most.
How can you help?
This one’s easy – if you like kids and don’t mind getting your hands dirty, you’ll be able to participate 100% with this project! A lot of the work is manual so if you can wield a shovel, or even know how to lay bricks you’ll get along just fine but don’t worry if you’re new to building because you’ll be working alongside skilled local labour who will show you how it’s done. There’s no doubt that the satisfaction you get from helping construct a badly needed school facility is immense and it’s not all hard work either, the locals are naturally curious about visitors and you’ll soon break the ice to find yourself being welcomed into the community.
If you hold a TEFL qualification you can join our specialised English training team as an English teacher working with both schools and adult groups
Whether you are coming as an individual volunteer or as part of a ready-formed group, ETV will guide you through the process of choosing your project and preparing for the trip. Once you’re here in Ecuador, you’ll be fully supported by our skilled team of project coordinators. See our Education Project programme below for more details.
